Harold Helphrey

Harold John Helphrey, 76, of Folkston, passed away July 6, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was born in Omak, Washington to the late Joseph Chapman and Harriett Theodora Johnson Helphrey. He was very active in the Boy Scouts serving on several local Boy Scout Councils. He was a member of the American Legion. He served as an elder at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Kingsland, Georgia. He retired June 5 1973 from the United States Navy with over twenty years of faithful service.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Marietta E. Helphrey; 4-Children: Diane Frances (David Lee) Tickell, Joseph Clyde Helphrey, John Roger Helphrey, and Jason Edward Helphrey; 7-Grandchildren: John Roger Helphrey, Jr., Corey Lee Tickell, Colton Micheal (Kendall Jade) Tickell, Elizabeth Vanga Tickell, Scott Allen Helphrey, Joshua Robert Helphrey, and Amanda Elizabeth Helphrey; 2-Great Granddaughters: Emma Rae Tickell and Autumn Elizabeth Dawn Helphrey. He was preceded in death by his son: Jeffrey Dwight Helphrey.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 9 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 10 at 4:00 PM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Kingsland, Georgia with Pastor Paul Koch officiating.
