Glenn L. Trout, 89 of Folkston passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 from injuries sustained in an accident.
He was born April 19, 1919 to Andy Alton and Anna Jane Morris Trout in Union mills, North Carolina. He served his country, proudly in the United States Navy, where he received a Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific ribbon (8 stars), West New Guinea, Mariana Operation, West Carolinas, Leyte Operations, Luzon Operations, Iwo Jima Operations Okinawa Operations, Philippine Liberation and a Letter of Commendation from Adm. Haulsey, dated Oct. 3, 1944. He was employed with Gilman Paper Company and later retired from the International Paper Company, Riceboro, Georgia. He was one of the Founding member of the local VFW and a member of First Baptist Church of Folkston.
Survivors include: a daughter: Jane(Mike) Parnin of Jacksonville, Florida; one granddaughter: Kourtney Pompi of Arlington, Virginia; 2 sisters: Nancy (Neal) Lancaster of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; and Aileen (D.C.) Martin of Morganton, North Carolina; Several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers: Lewis Davis, L.E. Stokes, Ben Rodgers, Wilton Stokes, Jr., Tom Gowen, Jake Jones, Stokes Davis and Abe Brown.
The family will receive friends, Sunday, March 29. 2009 from 6 until 9 PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Monday, March 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Folkston with Rev. Randy Jacoby, Rev. Gene McCullough and Rev. Parnell Aldridge officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery.
