Geraldine Dillard

February 9, 1943 — February 4, 2008

Geraldine Frances Dillard passed away February 3, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Gerry was the ultimate caregiver for her family, graciously giving her time and energies to those who needed her.
Gerry was born in Folkston, Georgia on February 9, 1943. She was a member of the Folkston United Methodist Church. She graduated from Ribault High School in Jacksonville, Florida in 1961. Gerry was a faithful employee with International Paper, formerly Union Camp, for more than 25 years. After retirement, she later worked at Ed White High School. She was an avid golfer, as evidenced by a hole-in-one, earning a feature article in the Jacksonville Times Union. She had many hobbies such as water skiing, baking cakes, raising orchids, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs. She also collected fine antiques and art and was a novice artist herself. Gerry was an accomplished musician, playing the piano since childhood and was Head Majorette of the marching band, while in high school. She was the family historian, collecting family documents and relics dating back to the American Revolutionary War. She especially loved to study the events taking place during the Civil War Era.
Gerry is predeceased by her parents Dan and Inez Burney, as well as, Leon and Miss Mary Askew, her grandparents. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Larry, her true sole mate in life; her children: Patty Pennington, Bobby Green and wife Lupe, Danny Green and wife Kerri, Chad Green, Chad Dilliard and Lisa, and her two sisters: Dana Guy and husband Randy, Mary Lane Johnson and husband Robert; Her grandchildren: Daniel and Jeremy Pennington, Kari Anne Braddock and husband Justin, Aaron and Elin Green, Michael, April, Bobby, and Ashley Green, with one great-grandson Stanley Green, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
