Gerald Geiger

Gerald Franklin Geiger, 61 of Hilliard passed away January 16, 2014 at Community Hospice Acosta-Rua Center in Jacksonville, Florida.  He was born August 6, 1952 in Folkston, Georgia to Leo Franklin and Donie Wybonne”Liz” Carter Geiger. He worked at Methodist Hospital (now Shands) for twelve years as a painter. He also worked at Hardage –Giddens Funeral Home as a Staff Associate/Removal Specialist for ten years. Mr. Geiger retired early due to a stroke and other health issues. He loved his Church and the Choir. He worked in Children’s’ Church, loved Gospel Music and Vacation Bible School. His hobbies included sports and fishing and he was an avid Florida State Seminole fan.
Survivors: His parents: Franklin and Wyvonne(Liz) Geiger of Hilliard, Fl.; a Daughter: Amanda Geiger of Jacksonville, Fl.; a Son: Jeremy Geiger of Newark, N.J.; Grandchildren: Michael, Jeremy(J.J.) and Montana Henretti, Jacksonville, Fl.; Former Wife: Joyce Geiger of Jacksonville, Fl.; Brothers: Rick(Kathy) Geiger of Rockmart, Georgia; Danny Kath) Geiger of Jacksonville, Fl.; Numerous Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews.
The family will receive friends, Friday evening January 17, 2014 from 6 until 8 PM at Shepard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 18, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Boulougne with Rev. Chris Woodard and Rev. Kris Elkins officiating. Burial will follow in Buford Grove Cemetery.
