George Elbert Sikes, 72 of Hilliard, Florida woke up in Heaven Monday, July 11, 2016.
George was born January 3, 1944 in Grove Oak, Alabama to Johnnie Sikes and Melrose Thompson Sikes. He was named after 2 preachers; George Hodges and Elbert Bowers. From his birth, his parents had dedicated his life to the service of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. George took his service very seriously. He lived his life every day to be a testimony to the Lord. He had been given the charge of an Honorary Deacon of River Road Baptist Church and also served as a greeter for many faithful years till his declining health. He had been a resident of Life Care center of Hilliard for 12 years and was the centers Chaplin. He was an avid Elvis fan.
Left to cherish his memory is a Brother: Joe Sikes, an aunt, Clara Kilgore of Jacksonville; Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, extended family and loving friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at River Road Baptist Church from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the Church at 10:00 AM with Rev. Benjie Loyd and Rev. James Conner officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery with Rev. Hal McIntosh officiating.
