George H. Crowther, 87 of Folkston passed away Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta, Ga.
He was born December 15, 1921 to Horace and Charlotte Harvey Crowther in Jacksonville, Florida and had been a resident of Folkston since 1970. He served his country in the United States Navy, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired from the Navy and the United States Post Office and was a member of First Baptist Church and the Local Masonic Lodge # .
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Geraldine Taylor Crowther; Two sons: Jackie M. Crowther of Honalulu, Hawaii; George Crowther, Jr. of Folkston, Georgia; One brother: James Roy Crowther of Jacksonville, Florida; Six Grandchildren; Nine Great-grandchildren; Two Great-great grandchildren, and many Nieces, Nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 18, 2009 from 6 :30 until 8 PM at the Funeral Home and request that Memorial Contributions be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund. Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Jacoby and Rev. Gene McCullough officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery.
