George Edward Bell, 79 of St. George passed away October 11, 2011 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Jacksonville, Florida. He was born August 21, 1932 in St. George to Ernest and Pauline Tanner Bell. Mr. Bell was a lifelong resident of St. George and was self employed, raising chickens for Gold Kist, for over 20 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of First Baptist Church of St. George.
Survivors include; his wife: Barbara Bell ; Daughter: Sharon Padgett(E.L); one sister: Eloise Dorman (Allen); one step-son: Woody Manuel (Samanthia); three step-daughters: Brenda Skeels (Jeff); Christie Madray (Jack); Darlene Doggett (Jeff); 17 Grandchildren; 8 Great-grandchildren; Several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his son: Eddie Bell; his daughter: Paula Bell; his parents; 2 sisters; Irma Hudson and Iva Williams; 2 Brothers: Ernest Avery Bell and W.D. Bell.
Pallbearers: Chad Padgett, Brad Padgett, Joel Padgett, Jeffery Skeels, Matthew Skeels, J.D. Madray, Shane Madray and Trae Harrington.
Honorary Pallbearers: J.O. Hannaford, Ed Hickox, E.L. Padgett, Rodney Bell, Austin Harrington. George had many special people in his life to name them all, but he loved them.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Shepard Funeral Home from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral services will be Friday, October 14, 2011 at 1:00PM at First Baptist Church St. George with Rev. James Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Conner-Green Cemetery.
