Garland H. Wade, 90, lifetime resident of Hilliard, Florida passed away peacefully at home, Sunday morning, July 22, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Hilliard, Florida on March 27, 1922 to Selma Sunberg Wade and Leland Earl Wade.
He was a highly decorated WWII combat war veteran serving in the South Pacific. He owned and operated Wade’s Garage in Hilliard. He served on the Town council of Hilliard for many years and also served for 25 years as Trustee of Hilliard First Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and credited Him for all his blessings.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Elton and Marion Wade: his sister: Ardythe Bagby.
Garland loved and cherished his family. He leaves behind his loving wife of 67 years, Rita Davis Wade; five children: Russell Wade (Debi), Tom Wade (Angie), Mike Wade, Judy Franklin (Carrol), and Mark Wade (Janice) and eight grandchildren: Sean, Mandy, Tara, Dana, Blair, Joshua, Garrett and Gregory and three great-grandchildren: Alexis, Mackenzie, Ava, special nephews: Gene and Glen Higginbotham and many close family members and friends.
The family will greet friends at a visitation on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 10:00 AM in Oakwood Cemetery in Hilliard, Florida, with Rev. Bobby Richardson and Rev. Stephen Wolgamott officiating.
