Eugene Carter, 62 of Lake City, Florida passed away May 10, 2011 at his residence.
He was born in Folkston, Georgia on July 20, 1948 to Charles “Bud” Carter and Linda Mae Hickox Carter Neely. He served his country in the United States Army where he received national Defense Service medal; Vietnam service medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal; combat Infantryman badge; Air Medal Army Commendation medal; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm; Sharpshooter (Rifle). He was of the Baptist Faith.
Eugene is survived by one sister: Reba Sikes of Folkston; 2 brothers: Morris L. Carter (Yvonne) of Darien, Ga.; Edward Carter of Lexington, KY. Numerous Nieces, Nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Dorothy Sweat and 2 Brothers: Leonard Carter and Charles Carter.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 13, 2011 from 6 until 8 PM at the Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Shepard Funeral Home with Rev. Jody Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
