Elizabeth Jean Townsend Stewart

Elizabeth Jean “Jeanne” Townsend Stewart, 87, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023. She was born in Sanford, FL on May 28, 1936 to the late Russell C. Pickron, Sr. and Blanche Elizabeth Wynn Pickron Townsend. Jeanne served with her husband Rev. Samuel H. Stewart at Buford Grove Baptist Church in Hilliard, FL. Later she attended First Baptist Church of Jacksonville and North Jacksonville Baptist Church.  Jeanne held a great passion for teaching and served over 50 years as an educator at various schools, churches, and Bob Jones University.   While her passing brings great sadness, it is with greater joy that we know our mother entered into heaven to spend eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Her greatest desire was that others may know her Savior through salvation and a personal relationship with Him.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Samuel Hubert Stewart, son Russell Stewart, sister Marilyn Breeden, and brother Glenn Townsend, Jr.

She is survived by her children Mark (Wendy) Stewart and Delores (Paul) Beach; 3 grandchildren Daniel (Danielle) Stewart, Joshua Stewart, and Kristen (Felix) Caballero; 4 great-grandchildren Elijah Stewart, Kacey Stewart, Dani Stewart, and Abigail Stewart; brother Dave Riley; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM with the service following at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Buford Grove Baptist Church.  Rev. Curtis Harrington will officiate with assistance from Rev. Mike Pruitte and Robert Beach. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL at 1:30 PM. Pallbearers will be Daniel Stewart, Joshua Stewart, Elijah Stewart, Felix Caballero, Michael Seldomridge, and Donald Windham. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Seldomridge, Donnie Conner, Charles Johns, Bob Thornton, William DiMaria, Kerry Davis, and Pinky Voll.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Buford Grove Baptist Church.
