Eldon Woolard, Sr.

Eldon Daniel “Chic” Woolard, Sr., 89, of St. Marys, GA was received into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, April 5, 2021 after a short illness.  He was born in Folkston, GA to the late Lewis Steve Woolard and Myrtle Conner Woolard and had lived in St. Marys for the past 55 years where he worked at Gilman Paper Company, Kraft Bag Division for 37 years.  Eldon loved fishing, shrimping and camping where he and his wife, Jane, made many lifelong friends.  He always planted a garden, producing an abundance of fruits and vegetables which he generously shared with everyone.  Whether he was enjoying the majesty of the mountains, the glistening waters of the lake or just being at home, nothing gave him more pleasure than to be surrounded by his family…the more, the better.  He loved his God, His family and his country unconditionally and his family will carry his memory in their hearts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter:  Kathy Lang.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years:  Jane Griffin Woolard; 6-children:  Elaine Woolard, Lynn (Kevin) Lentz, Amy Brown, Eldon Daniel (Debbie) Woolard, Jr., Melissa (Vaughn) Rowland and Nancy (Brian) Harrell.  He was blessed with 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, April 10 in Oakgrove Cemetery in St. Marys, GA at 11:00 AM.

Due to Covid-19, the family would like to ask all attendees to please follow the rules of social distancing and face masks are recommended at the service.  Also, anyone that does not feel comfortable with attending the service, the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
