EDNA THRIFT

September 25, 1915 — April 7, 2013

Alice Edna “Edno” Johns Thrift, 97, of Folkston, passed away Sunday April 7 at her residence. She was born September 25, 1915 in the Riverside Community of Brantley County to the late James L. Johns and Vesta Wainright Johns. She was a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service for over 40 years. She was a member of First Baptist church of Folkston. She was preceded in death by her husband: Rev. M.D. Thrift, Sr.; children: George B. Thrift, Irskay Thrift, Thelma Thrift Crews, Catherine Thrift Morris; brother: Seba J. Johns; sister: Elizabeth Johns Gresham.
She is survived by her Children: Carolyn Thrift (Lloyd) Hewitt, Inez Thrift Reddish, Alcene Thrift Brown, Loutrelle Thrift (Bill) Chesser, M.D. (Raynelle) Thrift, Jr.; Grandchildren: Paul (Hope) Smith, Renee (John) Hale, Chris (Candace) Smith, Heidi (Rusty) Hickman; Great Grandchildren: Emily Smith, Holly Smith, Jordan Smith, William Hickman, Hannah Smith, Carson Hickman, Walt Smith, David Hale, Paul Hale, Ashton Smith; several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 10 at Shepard Funeral Home beginning at 5. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 11 at 2:00 PM at the Riverside Chapel Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Jacoby, Rev. Gene McCullough and Rev. Randy Wainright officiating. Burial will follow in Dowling Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy Hickman, Bob Phillips, Marshall Dell, Allen Lloyd, George Skarpalezos, and Gerald Thrift.
