Dr., Robert L. Logsdon Sr., 73, of Folkston was born September 9, 1939 was released from his tasks here on earth, and went home to our Lord on Tuesday, February 19th, 2013.
He was born in Maryville, Indiana to Carl and Mary Whittman Logsdon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sister and his wife Wanda.
Dr. Bob (Robert) Logsdon came to the ministry late in life. He attended South Eastern Baptist Seminary in 1995 - 1996. He and his wife Wanda then moved to Indiana, where he was pastor of Shoals Baptist Church. Because of Wanda's failing health, they returned to Folkston to be close to family. Wanda died in 2001.
After mourning the loss of his wife Wanda, Bob Logsdon was remarried to his current wife Kay. They took a position with the Baptist Association in Idaho DOM, where they worked as church starters, but after a few years the pull of being close to family members was to great and they returned to Folkston again.
While in Folkston he worked with many churches, prison ministry, worked with at risk youths and provided a food ministry. He also received his Doctorate in Theology from Masters of Divinity International.
Prior to his ministry life Bob Logsdon served in the US Navy for over 23 years, retired from the Navy and worked as an Electrical Engineer for first Vitro in Silver Springs Maryland and then Rockwell International in California, Virginia, South Carolina and finally Kings Bay, Georgia. He retired from Rockwell and felt the call from the Lord in his life. He loved his family and friends and never tired of sharing the Gospel with anyone he encountered.
He is survived by his wife of 11 yrs Kay Metcalf Logsdon of Folkston, sons and daughters and their spouses, Robert and Barbara Logsdon Jr. of Folkston, Michael and June Logsdon of Blackshear, Robin and Robert Dreher of Indian Trail, NC, James and Mellissa Metcalf of Maryville, Tenn., Tammy Kay and Steve Perkins Saint Marys. His grandkids were Robert Logsdon III, Cierra Kay Johnston, Christopher Johnston, Lauren Logsdon, Kirsten Metcalf, Sierra Logsdon, Kacey Metcalf, Michaela Logsdon, Logan Metcalf, Lyndsey Metcalf. Three great grand children Braylee Kay, Christina and Mason. He is also survived by four brothers Joe Logsdon, Paul Logsdon, Eddie Logsdon and Donny Logsdon.
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, February 24 at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Folkston with Dr. Randy Jacoby, Rev. Tim Hall and Rev. Don Patterson officiating.
Memorialization will be by Cremation. Condolences may be expressed by signing the guest registry at www.shaprdfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia.
