Douglas Hodges, Sr

Mr. Douglas Joseph Hodges, Sr., 81, of Hilliard, FL, passed away August 15 at his residence surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born December 5, 1928 in Kent, Florida to the late Robert Oliver and Stella Rowe Hodges. He was a member and Deacon of River Road Baptist Church. He served as a Nassau County Commissioner for 8 years. He was a Gideon and a Past President of the Northeast Florida Fair.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Doris Hicks Hodges; 6-Children: Wayne Douglas (Ann) Hodges, Dianne (Noah) Smith, Darlene (Dwight) Johns, Brenda (James) Thomas, Douglas Joseph “Buddy” (Susie) Hodges, Jr., and Rhonda (Rester) Bryan; 18-Grandchildren, 30-Great Grandchildren; and a Sister: Violet Hickox; and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 17 at River Road Baptist Church from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 18 at River Road Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. James Conner, Rev. Ken Westbrook, Rev. Rusty Bryan, and Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Conner-Green Cemetery.
