Doris Jean Pierce Thomson
Mom, grandmother, sister, and wife, Doris was born on September 2nd, 1945 in Elizabeth, PA and passed from this Earth on September 15th, 2023. A kind and innocent soul, she had an amazing ability to see the good in every person and situation. Despite never being able to work or drive due to her disabilities, Doris raised three children with an emphasis on kindness and compassion above all else.
Doris is survived by her children and their spouses [Frank (Christina) Thomson, III, Laura (Corey) Higginbotham, and John (Rebekah) Thomson], as well as her husband Frank Thomson, Jr. She was blessed with six grandchildren that were the light of her life, Kobi Grady, Braeden Thomson, Kloe Grady, Carleigh Thomson, Nadia Thomson, and Elena Thomson. The youngest of five born to Clifford Pierce and Laura Malady, Doris is also survived by her sister Marybelle Mills and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mom (grandma) went peacefully on her own terms. Until the end, Doris was unfailingly positive in spite of experiencing many of the hardships associated with our mental health system. She would still want us to look out for each other, especially those less fortunate, and come together to help those with mental illness and physical disabilities.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to support Camden Special Steps, an organization that works tirelessly to support adults with exceptional needs and for which her daughter, Laura, is a dedicated volunteer. https://www.camdenspecialsteps.com/
