Doris Chapman

Doris Inez Spradley Chapman, 78, of Hilliard, passed away Thursday October 15 in Jacksonville at the Acosta-Rua Center for Caring following a lengthy illness. She was a native of Tifton, Georgia and the daughter of the late James Emmett Spradley, SR. and Mary Catherine Yale Spradley. She was a school teacher in Nashville, Georgia and in the Nassau County School System . She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hilliard where she taught Mission Friends for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her brother: James Emmett Spradley, JR.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years: A.B. Chapman of Hilliard; 3-Children: Sharon Chapman Brown (John) of St. Augustine, FL, Connie Chapman Nelson (Donnie) of Yulee, FL, and Mike Chapman (Tania) of Jacksonville, FL; a Sister: Marjorie Bergman of Phoenix, AR; a Brother: Paul R. Spradley (Jackie) of Tifton, GA; a Sister-In-Law: Jeanine Spradley of Tifton, GA; 7-Grandchildren and 11-Great Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday October 17 at Shepard Funeral Home from 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held Sunday October 18 at the First Baptist Church of Hilliard at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bobby Richardson and Rev. Wayne Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hilliard, Florida.
