Dennis Secrist

April 19, 1947 — July 24, 2012

Dennis Ray Secrist, 65 of Hilliard passed away July 24, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Troutville, Virginia to Joe C. and Thalatha Lucille Hylton Secrist. He served his country in the United States Army. He was employed at Mohawk Rubber Company, Atlantic National Bank (aka First Union, aka Wachovia, aka Wells Fargo as a computer Programmer, before retiring after 38 years of service. Dennis was a former Deacon at Main Street Baptist Church, Oceanway Assembly of God and Hilliard First Assembly of God.
He is survived by his wife: Wanda Louise McDaniel Secrist of Hilliard; Daughters: Michelle Denise Secrist Hamilton(David) of Hilliard; Stephanie Louise Secrist Browning(David) of Hilliard; Grandchildren: Paige Louise Secrist Chasse, Rebecca(Kenny) Francis, Tyler Browning, Dylan Browning, Christopher Chasse II, Joseph Chasse; Great-grandson: Coty Anderson; Special Nieces: Lindsey Diane McDaniel; Madie Land; “Hun” Cara(Bryan) Sternett; Special nephew: Dain Land; One Brother: David Secrist, Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents: and one brother: Eddie Secrist.
Pallbearers: Ken Van Gundy, Kelvin Jordon, Wayne Eichholtz, David Taylor, Steve Hinson and Danny Raulerson.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Shepard Funeral Home from 4 until 6 PM. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral services will be Monday, July30, 2012 at 11:30 at the Hilliard First Assembly of God with Rev. Arlie Johns officiating. Burial will follow in the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
