Miriam Deloris Mims Tyson, 85 of Folkston, Ga. gained her angel wings after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on March 15, 2024.
She was a Savannah Native and a graduate of Commercial High School. She graduated from Armstrong State College with a nursing degree. She practiced nursing at Candler Hospital in Savannah for many years and later at Satilla Regional Hospital in Waycross, Ga.
She was a member of Camp Pinckney Baptist Church in Folkston, Ga. She was a loved member of “Ladies of Grace” Sunday school class.
She is a beloved mother, Nana and friend.
She is presided in death by her husband, Bill Tyson, of Blacksher, Ga. Her parents Daniel and Earlene Mims of Savannah, Ga. and her daughter, Stacey Holmes of Illinois.
She is survived by her “girls” Karen Waters (Jeff) of Millen, Ga., Janice Gunter (Wes) of Folkston, Ga. And Dana Waller (Gary) of Savannah, Ga. A brother, Tyrone Mims (MaryAnn) of Blackshear, Ga. And her best friend, Delene James.
She loved reading, canning and crocheting. But her passion was her grands. She was truly blessed with 10 grands, 22 great grands and 3 great-great grands.
A celebration of life service will be held at Camp Pinckney Baptist Church in Folkston, Ga. on March 18, 2024 with visitation at 10 am and service immediately following at 11am.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Jane & Bill Warner Center for Caring 1348 South 18th Street Fernandina Beach, FL. 30234 (www.communityhospice.com).
Shepard Roberson Funeral Home of Folkston, Ga. has been entrusted with the arrangements.
