David Drury, Jr

David Jackson Drury, Jr., 73 of Folkston, Georgia passed away on December 27, 2010. He was born September 7, 1937 in Waverly, Georgia to David and Annie Louise Drury. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Margaret and Lavonne, and sons, David, Joseph and Christopher and Great-granddaughter Danika. David was a loving husband and father, a devout Catholic with a strong faith and a loyal community server for Folkston and Charlton County. He was a dedicated and honorable Sailor who retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer from the world’s finest Navy after 20 years of faithful service. As a Vietnam War Veteran he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the USS Grant County Association and Fleet Reserve Association.
He is survived by his devoted wife Joyce, his son John, His daughters Karen McDow, Nadine Brooks, Andria Knowles and Sheryl Drury; his sister: Lee DeCasare, 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces, Nephews and other Relatives.
The family will receive friends at Shepard Funeral Home on Thursday, December 30th from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral Services will be Friday, December 31st 10:00 AM at St. Frances of Assisi with Father Gabe Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in Burnt Fort Cemetery.
