Danny Roddenberry

Danny Roddenberry, 69, of Folkston, GA, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. Danny was born in Folkston, GA, on June 1, 1955, the oldest son to Daniel H. Roddenberry and Robbie Jean Lentz Roddenberry. Danny was an athletic, outdoorsy type who was loved by everyone who met him. After graduation, Danny proudly served his country in the United States Army. While working for Georgia Forestry Commission, he met and married Debra Lynn Rainey. They had two daughters, Bambi Nichole and Shannon Renee Roddenberry. He attended the Homeland Church of God of Prophecy. Danny and his family were very active at the Cherokee of Georgia tribal grounds. Danny was a wonderful husband and devoted father. He was also a loving son and older brother. Danny’s love for the outdoors never wavered. In recent years, in his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing with grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. 

Danny is preceded in death by his father: Daniel H. Roddenberry; daughter: Bambi Nichole Roddenberry; and sister: Sarah Ann Roddenberry. 

He is survived by his mother: Robbie Jean Lentz Roddenberry; his loving wife: Debra Lynn Rainey Roddenberry; daughter: Shannon Roddenberry (James Mellroy); grandchildren: Sabastian and Danny Ray Roddenberry; brothers: Tommy Roddenberry (Marsha) and Gadson Roddenberry; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A visitation will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, March 28, 2025 for all family and friends and a service at 4:00 pm. Both will be held at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home with Pastor Seth Paris officiating.
