Charles Clifford Chesser, 71, of Folkston, passed away Saturday October 13 at his home. He was born on Chesser's Island in the Okefenokee Swamp to Benjamin Thomas and Shirley O'Quinn Chesser. He was an active member of the Folkston United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board, the Board of Trustees and the Usher Committee. He was a successful businessman for 45 years. He graduated from Charlton County High School in 1954 and was a member of the 1952 Football Team. He was a dedicated supporter of Charlton County Athletics. He loved fishing, hunting, and farming.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eleanor Chesser; 3-Daughters: Karen (Timmy) Huling, Brenda (Mike) Drury and Carla (W.D.) Rodeffer all of Folkston; a sister: Anne (William) Jordan of East Palatka, Fl.; and 5-Grandchildren: Mandy Huling, Benji (Katy Ruth) Huling, Hannah Drury, Tyler Drury, and Wade Rodeffer
The family will receive friends Sunday October 14 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston from 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday October 15 at 11:00 AM at the Folkston United Methodist Church with Rev. David Unkles and Rev. Benji Varnell officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery.
