Catherine Bowen

Catherine Mae Eunice Bowen, 92, of Folkston, passed away August 13, at her residence. She was born in Pierce County, Georgia to the late James Walter Eunice and Maude Boyette Eunice. Mrs . Bowen was a crane operator at the Charleston SC Navy shipyards during WWII. Mrs. Bowen worked for 32 years at Waycross Hospital and Charlton County Hospital until her retirement in 1983. She loved working in her yard, canning and freezing vegetables and fruit grown by her husband, Neb. She loved cooking and taking care of her very loving family She was preceded in death by her daughter: Olivia Gail Bowen
She is survived by her husband of 70 years: Omer Lamar “Neb” Bowen, Sr, of Folkston, GA; 3-Children: Marian “Patsy” James (Bill) of Waycross, GA, Barbara Bowen Combs, of Jacksonville, FL and Omer “Lamar” Bowen, Jr. (Frances) of Douglas, GA ; 6-Grandchildren and 9-Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
The family will receive friends Monday Aug 16 at Shepard Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Shepard Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, August 17 at 11:00 AM with Rev. J.D. Bowen and Rev. Mike Foreman officiating. The Committal Service will be held in Oakland Cemetery in Waycross, GA at 3:00 PM. Pallbearers will be William Eunice, Horace Eunice, James Eunice, Steve Youmans, Bobby Williamson, Terry Williamson, Dalton Lewis, and Daniel White.
