Carolyn Adams Kirkland of Hilliard FL entered heaven’s gate on April 26th, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. She was born May 31, 1942 in Douglas, Georgia to the late Weldon and Dora Worth Adams. Carolyn was a devoted woman of God and an active and faithful member of St. George Church of God. She was known for her devotion to her church and family. Her love and kindness gave her the title of “Granny” to many. She loved to cook and was best known for her coconut cake and famous creamed corn. Her heart was not ready to leave us so soon, but her body and spirit was ready to be with Jesus. Her last words now would be to the many grieving, is to wipe your tears and celebrate her going home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Gail Kirkland Gay, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years: Noah "Red" Kirkland and her daughters Pam Snider (Ralph), and Brenda Brantley (David), and Grandchildren Casey Jones (Carmen), Nicole Sofge, Michelle Harter (Pat), Daniel Sofge (Ashley), Harlee Thomas (Alex), 12 Great Grandchildren, one surviving sister Mary Pittillo, and a number of other relatives.
The family will receive guest Thursday April 29 at St. George Church of God from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at church Friday April 30th 1 pm. Officiating will be Rev Grandy Albritton and Rev. Carroll Lee. Burial will follow at River Road Baptist Church Cemetery.
