Folkston, GA – Carole Ann Urban Smith, 88, died June 26, 2024, at Folkston Park Care and Rehab after a life well-lived. Carole was born in Camden, NJ and a resident of Paulsboro, NJ where she was raised, Pennsauken, NJ, Haddonfield, NJ and St. Marys, GA.
She is predeceased by her husband of 30 years, George H., and parents Charles A. and Dorothy Langford Urban. Carole is survived by her daughter, Leslie L. Smith of Jacksonville, FL; a brother Carl A. Urban of Woodstown, NJ; nieces Janet W. Dyrholm, Salisbury, NC, Patricia E. Wilson, Cherry Hill, NJ, Susan M. Wilson, Cape May, NJ and Jamie Urban Andruszka of Mullica Hill; and nephews Richard R. Wenderoth, North Falmouth, MA, David S. Burgin, Sewell, NJ and Carl A. Urban Jr. of Woodstown, NJ.
Carole was inducted into the South Jersey Basketball and Paulsboro High School Halls of Fame, and played basketball for Mobil Oil (where she worked) and Kenney’s Restaurant. Mrs. Smith was a proud Daughter of the American Revolution, and a longtime member of the Jersey Skiters, Haddonfield United Methodist Church, Tavistock Country Club and Wedgewood Swim Club. She retired to the Club at Osprey Cove and enjoyed many years of worldwide travel and golf in the South.
Services, arranged by Shepard Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston, will be private.
