In Loving Memory (04/14/1933 – 03/22/2025)

It is with our hearts full of love and the deepest respect that we share the passing of our beloved Carl E. Harris of Hilliard, Florida. May his memory be for blessing.

Carl made his heavenly bound journey home and stepped into the Glory of our Lord and eternal fishing waters after a long and fulfilling life at the age of 91. We are so blessed that he was with us for so many wonderful years. He joins his wife Marilyn Ida Sophia Quast Harris and grandson Wade Leon Harris Jr. who are with our Lord. Carl was born on April 14, 1933, in Winokur, Georgia to parents Riley Harris and Harriett (Lake) Harris. He was a devoted husband, and a loving father, father-in-law, cherished grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend and a devout man of faith. His passing constitutes a profound loss to us all. His faith-driven convictions taught us the importance of family, earnest hard work and doing what was right. Carl lived a full life of integrity, honesty, generosity, selflessness, and above all a strong commitment and love of family. He was our source of strength, support, wisdom and life guidance. Dad had a strong moral code, lived his life devoted to the greater good, always helping others and placing their needs above his own. He shared his time and resources without the need for recognition.

Colossians 3:17 – “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

After a short stint in the Army and following retirement from the United States Air Force of 20+ years of Honorable Service with distinction, he was employed with Houdaille-Duval-Wright Co. in road construction, Nassau County Road Department, and the City of Hilliard until complete retirement.

He leaves behind a legacy of hard work and perseverance. Dad loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and water/wildlife recreation. He was a master gardener and orchardist with a vast storehouse of knowledge. We will always remember his generous heart, stories and fun-loving sense of humor.

Matthew 25:21 – “His Lord said unto him, well done, good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of the Lord.

In addition to his parents, loving wife and grandson, he is preceded in death by 3-brothers: Curtis Harris, Dave Harris and Dub Harris.

Carl leaves behind to cherish his legacy, 3-children: Belinda Swartz (Martin), Carl Harris, II and Wade Harris (Theresa); 5-grandchildren: Carrie Smith (Greg), Caitlin Harris (Reese), Colin Harris (Jordan), Sean Swartz and Lindsey Swartz; 2-great-grandchildren: Kanton King and Stetson Smith; and a sister: Helen Sikes.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home. A service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Boulougne with Pastor Paul Lucas officiating. Burial will follow at Harris Cemetery in Hilliard, FL. Pallbearers will be Kanton King, Colin Harris, Mike Harris, Joel Sikes, Sean Swartz and Don Harris.

May the emptiness left in his absence be filled with the love you felt in his presence.
