Gayle Batton

Brenda Gayle Batton, 69, of Waynesville, GA passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at her home.  She was born December 5, 1954 in Folkston, GA to the late E.M. Batton, Jr and Pearl Crews Batton.  She graduated from Charlton County High School in 1972.  She worked in the medical field over the following years in Jacksonville, FL and Brunswick, GA before moving back to Folkston and then to Waynesville a few years ago.  Gayle loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and spoiling them when they were little.  She loved shopping, gardening, and surfing the internet.

She is preceded in death by her father:  E.M. Batton, Jr; her paternal grandparents:  E.M., Sr and Oveda Murrow Batton; her maternal grandparents:  William and Effie Lowther Crews and a brother-in-law:  Jamey O’Steen.

She is survived by her mother:  Pearl Crews Batton; 2-brothers and sister-in-law:  Joe Batton and Billy and Lynette Batton all of Folkston; 2-sisters and brother-in-law:  Cathy and Bruce Flansburg of Folkston and Julie O’Steen of Waycross; her nieces and nephews:  Michael (Loretta) Jones, Jennifer (Bryan) Rowell, Katie (Dylan) Mulkey, Lilli (CJ) Smith, Derric (Brittany) Batton and Tanner O’Steen; great nieces and great nephews:  Bria (Brandon) Cox, Bryan Rowell, Jaycee Rowell, Bric Batton, Bleu Batton and Buck Batton and William Smith.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Boatwright officiating.  The family will receive friends and hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery.
