Brandon Keith “Meathead” Smith, 44, of Hilliard, FL passed away July 23 in Fernandina Beach, FL following a courageous battle with Covid. He was born in Douglas, GA May 25, 1977. He was employed by Jax Utillities Management. He was a member of Orange Bluff Hunting Club. Brandon enjoyed cooking great BBQ while hanging out with friends. He spent most days working on cars or projects outside in his shed and really enjoyed having his daddy by his side for the last several months. Georgia Bulldogs, Keith Whitley, the St. Marys River, friends and family were his favorite things in life.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Erica Noel Smith; a brother: Bryan “Hotfish” Hopkins; and his grandparents: King & Bernice Gee, Herman (Catherine) Smith and Hazel (John) Cowart.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Deanna Moody Smith; 2-daughters: Emmalee (Bryan) Brown and Elena Smith; a son: Nickolas Smith; parents: Wallace & Virginia Smith; sister: Beverly (Scott) Hand; brother: Thomas Smith; brother by choice: Jody Pickett; sister-in-law: Amanda (Ben) Profitt; special nieces and nephews: Kory (Autumn) Bryant, Kylee (Dalton) Thompson, Scotty Hand, Jr., Olivia Profitt, Levi Profitt, Connie (Matt) Bennett and Jordan Hand; honorary grandsons: Waylon & Nelson Bryant, Maddex Thompson and Matt Bennett, Jr.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 30 at the First Baptist Church of Boulougne from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 31 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Boulougne with Pastor Paul Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery in Callahan, Florida. Pallbearers will be Scott Hand, Kory Bryant, Troy Parsons, Chris Cravey, Jason Cravey, Jorge Perez, Aleshia Smith and Bryan Brown.
Due to Covid-19, the family would like to ask all attendees to please follow the rules of social distancing and face masks are recommended at the service. Also, anyone that does not feel comfortable with attending the service, the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
