Bobbie Jean Mason of Hilliard, Florida, passed away on February 15, 2025, in her home after a brief illness. She was born on July 16, 1937, in Athens, Tennessee, to Anna Lou and Frank Morrow. She came to faith in Christ at the age of 15 at Antioch Baptist Church, in Athens, Tennessee.
Married on June 2, 1957 to her husband, Howard Tillman Mason, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida, after the birth of their first child, where she worked along side her husband in his pest control business for forty years until their retirement in 2005. She loved reading, gardening, cooking, crossword puzzles, and attending Bible Study Fellowship, but her greatest joy was spending time with her large family. She had the uncanny ability to make anyone in her presence feel important and special. She was loved by so many, and her love, compassion, and sense of humor towards others will be very missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Harold Morrow, sisters Joanne Morrow, and Mary Smith.
She is survived by her children: Kimberly Rentz (Glenn), Steven Mason (Rhonda), Pamela Mason, and Brian Mason; a sister: Lynne Duggan of Riceville, Tennessee, grandchildren: Adria Youngblood, Ryan Mason, Halston Nelson, Christian Nelson, Joseph Nelson, and Zachary Mason, and great-grandchildren: Aiden, Elijah, Micah, Bella, Hoss, Dallas, and Delaney.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Hilliard, with the funeral service being held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the church. Ryan Mason, grandson and pastor, will officiate the service. Interment will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to their wonderful Aunt Lynne, cousin Cathy and Terry Roberson, and granddaughter Lindsey Nelson for taking such good care of their mother, and to Drs. Reddy, Kadakia, and Hew at UF Health North, and Drs. Hammond, Zaiden, Karmand, Bhat, and Changela, as well as the wonderful nurses and CNA’s at Baptist Health-downtown/Weaver 7, and her wonderful Hospice care team, Julie and Chad.
Condolences may be expressed by signing the guest registry at www.shepardrobersonfh.com. Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home, Folkston, Georgia is honored to serve the Mason family.
