Viola Elizabeth “Betty” Owens, 69, of Folkston, GA passed away at her residence November 10. She was born December 11, 1944 to the late James G. Roddenberry and Bernice Flora Chesser Roddenberry. Mrs. Betty retired earlier this year from the Charlton County Sheriff’s Department after 31 years. She was a faithful member of Philadelphia Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by her 2-Sons: Scott (Lorraine) Owens and Brian Owens; 6-Sisters: Doris (Allen) Lloyd, Katherine let, Debbie Todd, Latrelle (Kile) McDowell, Judy (Reavis) Drury, & Sheila (Tommy) Carter; 2-Brothers: Gadson (Hazel) Roddenberry & Jack (Dorothy) Roddenberry; 3-Grandchildren: Lacy Nicole Drury, Candi Latrail Groover & Jayrun Lightin’ Owens; 2-Great Grandchildren: Cayden Grace Groover & Braxton Lucus Daniels.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her 2-Brothers: Barney Roddenberry and Clayton “Babe” Roddenberry.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 12 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, GA from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 13 at 2:00 PM at Philadelphia Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Parnell Aldridge, Rev. Keith Lloyd and Rev. Ray McMillan officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery.
