Betty Jean Wood Johnson

Betty Jean Wood Johnson, 93 of Dalton, Georgia and formally of Hilliard, Florida entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Ridgewood Manor Rehabilitation Center in Dalton, Georgia.  As a girl she worked in her family restaurant in Hilliard, and Fuqua’s Pharmacy serving customers and neighbors in her town.   Later, she worked at Myra’s Clothing Store, assisting customers with merchandise in quality women’s clothing and accessories.   She was a graduate Hilliard High School class of 1946 and a homemaker.   Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hilliard for more than sixty years.  She loved her family unconditionally as a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.  She will be deeply missed by her family. 

Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband, Russell L. Johnson, parents Clyde and Jewel Davis Wood, brother and sister-in-law Harry and Esther Wood.  She is survived by her children:

Carole (James Langston) Ray: (Cory  Collins - Julia Farley Collins, Chadwick Collins),  (Clint Wood Collins/Jane- Russell Malone Collins),  Nancy/Grady McIntosh: (Marty/Neal  Cochrane- Caroline Cochrane (Jordan Jadoo), Grant Cochrane, Mason Cochrane),  (Ronald/Brittany McIntosh -Kristin/Lia McIntosh, Reed/Mabrie Brickel),  (Molly/Gabe Whittenburg –Braden Whittenburg, Bailey Whittenburg),   Russell (Rusty) Johnson/Nancy:  (Jake/Leah - Kaylin Johnson)  (Kyle Wood Johnson),  Betty Sue(Bett)/Steve Laird: (Daniel /Tiffany Laird -Hobs Laird), (Elizabeth/Kenneth Bowman - Varah, Evelyn Bowman), Calvin/Marla Johnson:  (Kelli Jean/Sean Altman- Jenna Altman).

A memorial service for Betty will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11am/visitation at 10am  Shepard-Robinson Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia with Dr. Benjamin Loyd, River Road Baptist Church officiating.  Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Hilliard.  Pallbearers will be the grandsons  of Betty Wood Johnson.
