Arnold Mullins, 84 of Folkston passed away July 18, 2011 at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Haysi, Virginia to Whetsel and Bertha Cochran Mullins on July 28, 1926. Mr. Mullins served his Country in the United States Navy. He worked for Gary Steel mill for 30 years before retiring. He owned and operated Mullins Building Supply in Portage, Indiana and part owner of Charlton Building and Plumbing Supply in Folkston, Georgia. He piloted his own plane and loved playing golf and bowling. He was an avid sports fan. Mr. Mullins was a member of the Gideon Society and a member of the Homeland Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include: His wife of 64 years: Clarice Mullins of Folkston, Georgia; One son: Larry Mullins of Folkston, Georgia; two daughters: Denise Hessler of Lincoln, Nebraska and Linda Mullins of Folkston, Georgia; three sisters: Jody Grant of Portage, Indiana; Loretta Sutherland of Okeechobee, Florida; Sonya Mullins of Hobart, Indiana; one brother: Lonnie Mullins of Sebring, Florida; Step-mother: Alice Mullins of Haysi, Virginia; three half-sisters: Darlene Mullins Davis; Carolyn Mullins Evans; Helen Mullins Southwell; five half-brothers: Ralph Mullins; Leonard Mullins; Thomas Mullins; Garrett Mullins and Randall Mullins; eight Grandchildren; three Great-grandchildren; ten nieces, 9 nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers: Justin Swartzentruber, Brock Hessler, Chuck Crews, Terry Crews, Mike Nettles and Jesse Nettles.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Shepard Funeral Home from 6 until 8 PM. Memorials may be made to the Homeland Pentecostal Church. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Homeland Pentecostal Church at 1:00 PM with Rev. Alton Crews and Rev. Ion Johns officiating. Burial will follow in Bachlott Cemetery.
