Anne Mason Morris, 71, of Folkston, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Plymouth, New Hampshire to the late Norman and Frances Mason. She was a 1959 graduate of Amesbury High School and a 1963 graduate of Salem State Teacher’s College. She married Erwin “Bud” Morris in 1963 at the First Congregational Church of Amesbury, MA and thus began her 28 career as a “Navy Wife”. She taught school, worked civil service, and owned the Okefenokee Sportsman. She volunteered her time as a Girl Scout Leader, and taught Sunday School and cooked dinner at the church on Wednesday nights for years. Over the years, she was actively involved in Relay for life events, such as the Cancer Survivor’s Dinner, the Navy Officer’s Wife’s Club, and various civic organizations such as the Birthday Club and the Red Hat Society. Whenever she heard someone was sick or a death in the family she cooked and took food. She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies. Anne was a giver and had a true heart for Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years: Erwin “Bud” Morris; 3-Children: Becky (Richard) Bly, Kim (Mel) Waller, and Lt. Col. Carl (Lisa) Morris; 4-Grandchildren: Katelin Sadler, Wittney Sadler, Abigail Morris and Clara Morris; a Brother: Alan (Louise) Mason; a Sister: Cynthia (Dan) Brooks. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law: Ann Nelson.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 1 at Shepard Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 2 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Folkston, with Rev. Randy Jacoby officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation.
