Ann Mays

Ann Elkins Mays, 92, of Folkston, GA passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 in Fernandina Beach, FL in the presence of her daughters.  She was born July 6, 1928 in Eastman, GA to the late Dorrill and Maude Martin Elkins.  She taught 3rd grade until she retired from the Charlton County School System after 30 years of service.  She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the First Baptist Church of Folkston.  Besides spending time with her family, she enjoyed gardening and tending to her birds.  She also loved the mountains and enjoyed spending time at her home in Highlands.  She was an avid fan of the NC Tarheels, Atlanta Braves and the GA Tech Football Team.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband:  Jack R. Mays and all of her siblings.

She is survived by her children:  Carole Mays, Peggy (Mont) Miller and Joni Mays; her grandchildren:  William (Susan) Miller and Stephen (Susan) Miller; 5 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews

A graveside service will be held Monday, March 29 at 1:00 PM in Pineview Cemetery with Rev. Randy Jacoby officiating.  The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the cemetery.

Due to Covid-19, the family would like to ask all attendees to please follow the rules of social distancing and face masks are recommended at the service.  Also, anyone that does not feel comfortable with attending the service, the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
