Alfred Jacob Johns, 72, of Folkston, passed away at his residence March 29, 2010 following a lengthy illness. He was born in Brantley County to the late Pat and Eliza Flowers Johns. He was a US Navy Veteran. He volunteered at the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge for a number of years. Mr. Johns was a avid fisherman and farmer.
He is survived by his wife: Nell Johns; 2-Children: Ed (Wendy) Johns and Sissy (Doug) Greenwood; 2-Step-Children: Janice (Richard) Howell and Dennis (Marla) Snowden; 2-Brothers: Charles (Terri) Lowther and Gross (Sharon) Lowther; 6-Grandchildren: Allison Johns, Meghan Johns, Gigi Greenwood, Shelly (Nathaniel) Isler-Williams, Chris Moss, and Sarah Snowden and a Great Grandchild: Kyleigh Moss. He was preceded in death by his sister Audrey Swain.
The family receive friends Wednesday, March 31 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 1 at 11:00 AM at the Winokur Baptist Church with Dr. Reggie Herrin and Rev. Randy Jacoby officiating. Burial will follow in Bachlott Cemetery.
