Aaron Huey Chesser

Aaron Chesser, 85, of Port Haywood, VA passed away Thursday evening, September 12, 2024, after an extended illness.

Born in Folkston, GA, his parents were Joseph Thomas “Tom” Chesser and Iva Lee Chesser. He is preceded in death by his wife, Karen E. Chesser; 2 brothers, Wade Chesser and Bill Chesser; and 2 sisters, Winifred Gay and Girdie Thompson.

Aaron retired as the Chief of the Machinery and Equipment Division for the US International Trade Commission in Washington D.C. He attended the University of Georgia and received both a Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in Forestry. He was also a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. After retirement, his best times were spent in his garden and crabbing off his dock, all in the company of his family and friends.

Survivors include his 3 children, Jeffrey Chesser (Teresa) of Gloucester, VA, Kevin M. Chesser of Lynchburg, VA, and Holly D. Chesser Green (Carl) of Chantilly, VA. He is also survived by his brother, Joe L. Chesser (Donnie) of Folkston, GA; his sister, Ruby Sirmans of Waycross, GA; 4 grandchildren, Mark Chesser of Ireland, Adam Chesser of Ireland, Kyle Chesser of Ireland, and Aaron Chesser “A.J.” of Ohio; and bonus grandchildren, Albert and Brenda Arguedas and children of Virginia, and Theresa, Philip and Mila Lopez of Virginia.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening, September 18, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston, GA. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Philadelphia Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Robby Paulk officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations by made to the American Heart Association.
